Would you know what to do in a life-threatening emergency?
On Saturday 16th February 2013 local residents took part in the 1st HeartStart Course held at the SurreyHeath Borough Council Offices in Camberley Surrey, run by Instructor Mike Collier and his team from The British Heart Foundation Camberley Division.
The HeartStart Course that lasts two hours gave and provided practical hands-on learning and the skills that could help keep someone alive until professional help arrives in a life-threatening emergency.
The HeartStart scheme programme included skills such as
- assessing an unconscious patient
- performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- dealing with choking
- serious bleeding
- helping someone that may be having a heart attack
Learning Emergency Life Support (ELS) skills and knowing what to do in a emergency, this HeartStart course is great. Being able to know and provide emergency support until the professionals arrive, can buy time and double their chances of survival needed to the casualty and save lives.
